A wedding toast, with lots of coffee, to the happy couple

LANSING -- Jeremy and Robin Morey showed up at City Hall on Friday with a 10:30 a.m. appointment for a short wedding ceremony in 54A District Court.

But when a bomb threat led to the building's evacuation, the couple went instead to a nearby Biggby Coffee outlet -- where they ran into District Judge Charles Filice, who was also there with his evacuated staff.

Filice offered to marry them right there, so Jeremy Morey retrieved the couple's marriage license from his truck. The rest is history.

City Hall and adjacent police department offices reopened after a canine sweep failed to find any explosives.
