Nominate Your Favorite BIGGBY® Barista or Store for 2023 Barista of the Year and 2023 Store of the Year! 

Each year at BIGGBY® Nation Summit – the annual gathering of BIGGBY® COFFEE Franchise Owners, Home Office Employees, and Store Employees – BIGGBY® COFFEE awards two of its most prestigious awards based on nominations from BIGGBY® Fanatics and the community; the Mary Roszel Store of the Year award and the Todd Miles Barista of the Year award. These awards highlight the best of BIGGBY® COFFEE and the winners are recognized as the standard for what all BIGGBY® stores and baristas should aspire to be.  

The Mary Roszel Store of the Year award is named for one of BIGGBY® COFFEE’s co-founders, Mary Roszel. From day one, she poured time, passion, and dedication into BIGGBY® COFFEE’s success, and truly embodied the intention and care needed to run a thriving business. Every year, in her honor, we recognize one special store within BIGGBY® Nation, nominated by their community, that exemplifies that very foundation set by Mary: a foundation of high energy, hard work, and faith. 

Recent winners of the Mary Roszel Store of the Year award include Store 580 in Hebron, KY, Store 364 in Alma, MI, Store 435 in Flat Rock, MI, Store 311 in Portage, MI, Store 307 in New Baltimore, MI, and Store 236 in Westland, MI.  

The Todd Miles Barista of the Year award is given each year in memory of former barista, manager, and stellar human being, Todd Miles. Todd embodied the joy and spirit of BIGGBY® COFFEE and was always ready with a joke to make others smile. He made it his mission to ensure every customer left his BIGGBY® store in a better mood than when they arrived and recognized each customer as an individual. Unfortunately, he passed away from a rare heart condition many years ago, but his legacy lives on throughout BIGGBY® Nation as the gold standard for BIGGBY® Baristas. As one of BIGGBY® Nation’s most prestigious awards, the Barista of the Year is awarded to a barista nominated by their customers, who goes above and beyond in their work and sets the bar for excellence in BIGGBY®’s barista community. 

Recent winners of the Todd Miles Barista of the Year award include Luis Jimenez-Castro from Store 179 in Grand Rapids, MI, Robert Pharo from Store 307 in New Baltimore, MI, Francesca Zapata from Store 304 in Howell, MI, Jenna Bizek from Store 236 in Westland, MI, Erica MacLeod from Store 485 in Burton, MI, and Cassie Hall & Christina Geisler from Store 374 in Grand Blanc, MI.  

Nominations from BIGGBY® Fanatics and the community fuel these awards. Each Spring, the nomination period opens to the public to submit nominations for who they think the winner of each award should be. The regional finalists are then determined by the stories shared by the nominations, not by the number of nominations received. The committee looks for the barista or store that goes above and beyond to treat their customers like individuals and illuminates every interaction with love. Once regional winners are determined, the committee deliberates to find the overall winner – the BIGGBY® barista or store that exemplifies the commitment to community, love, and joy that BIGGBY® strives to share with the world. Once the winner of each award each award is selected, and the regional finalists and winners are announced and celebrated at BIGGBY® Nation Summit in the Fall.
