LEADING MIDWEST COFFEE RETAILER, BIGGBY COFFEE ARRIVES IN TEXAS

Posted on October 20, 2010

COPPELL, Texas, Oct. 20, 2010 – The fastest-growing coffee retailer in the Midwest brings its contagiously fun brand of gourmet coffee to Texans next month when BIGGBY COFFEE opens its doors at 230 N. Denton Tap Road in the city of Coppell, Texas on November 9.

The new store, located just south of the Sam Rayburn Tollway on Denton Tap Road, will offer its signature gourmet brewed coffee for FREE through Nov. 15 in addition to free specialty beverages and mug giveaways on Nov. 9.

It wasn’t long ago that BIGGBY COFFEE was a single gourmet coffee shop serving East Lansing, Mich. with the area’s most inviting café.  Today, BIGGBY COFFEE has 124 stores open or under contract to open in six states across the United States.

Business partners Wes Atwood and Stan Newman have teamed up to put their combined experience in corporate marketing and retail operations to work for the first Texas BIGGBY COFFEE.  With more than 30 years experience in retail and personnel management, Newman will run the day-to-day operations of the store while Atwood will put his MBA and experience in marketing and finances to work for the store.

“We’d been eyeing franchise opportunities for a while and BIGGBY COFFEE continued to pop up in the magazines we were reading as this amazing, growing brand,” said Wes Atwood. “We’re look forward to introducing Coppell to a really unique café concept that strips away the exclusive gourmet coffee pretense found at other cafés and replaces it with a fun environment that everyone can enjoy.”

BIGGBY COFFEE Coppell is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.  The store features free Wi-Fi connections, fireplace, a flat screen TV and the full menu of BIGGBY COFFEE gourmet favorites.

“We’re fortunate to have insightful entrepreneurs like Wes and Stan coming to us with great energy and enthusiasm for our brand,” said Bob Fish, CEO and founding partner of BIGGBY COFFEE.  “We can’t wait to get started in the great state of Texas.”

About BIGGBY COFFEE®

East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day.  The “Big Orange ‘B’” caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 124 stores open and/or under contract to open across six states including Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.  For more information, visit biggby.com.
