BIGGBY COFFEE DEFIANCE TEAMS WITH LOCAL DOG NON-PROFIT

April-long Special Donates Funds to the Defiance Bark’n Runners

DEFINANCE, OHIO,  March 31, 2011 –BIGGBY COFFEE Defiance is joining forces with the Defiance Bark’n Runners and their furry four-legged friends for the entire month of April! One dollar from every Grande or Super drink purchased at the store, located at 720 N. Clinton St., can aid construction of a two-acre dog park in the city of Defiance.

Founded in 2010, Defiance Bark’n Runners aim to promote responsible pet interaction. They encourage community collaboration between dog owners and the public and will build a dog park where dogs can play off their leashes while providing a place for their owners to socialize at the same time.

The organization has been raising money for more than a year in an effort to open the dog park by this summer. With approximately $10,000 already raised, Bark’n Runners are hoping to generate the remaining money through this and other fundraisers throughout the next few months to keep the park opening on schedule.

“BIGGBY COFFEE always prides itself on the partnerships it has within communities and in Defiance it’s no different,” said Defiance store leader Amanda Demland. “We have a great community here and we are extremely excited to support the Bark’n Runner’s as they help enhance our community.”

Customers must present the $1.00 donation voucher at the time of purchase which can be downloaded and printed from this link: http://bit.ly/e2S1rJ

Money donated will help the organization fence the entire area (located on Precision Way, south of the Maumee and Western Railroad and east of the Defiance reservoir) and install a security system, together totaling more than $17,000. Other amenities, including a pavilion and benches, will be constructed after the park officially opens as funds allow.

“We are so grateful to team with BIGGBY COFFEE and appreciate all the support they are showing us,” Caity Bird, the President of Defiance Bark’n Runners said. “This fundraiser will not only help us raise money for the dog park, but will hopefully spread the word about BIGGBY COFFEE and bring new faces into the store.”

About BIGGBY COFFEE®

East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 129 cafes open or under contract across six states including: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.  For more information, visit www.biggby.com.
