BIGGBY COFFEE REACHES 32 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS OF SALES GROWTH
Outperforming top competitors, company finds success through proven system and industry forecasting

EAST LANSING, Mich., July 10, 2012 – As the temperatures in the Midwest continue to rise this summer, East Lansing, Michigan-based, BIGGBY COFFEE,  is experiencing a similar hike in terms of company growth, as July marked the 32 consecutive month of same store sales growth averaging, 9.28 percent per month.

When this figure is combined with new-store-sales growth, the rate grows even higher. In the past three years, BIGGBY has averaged  more than 17 percent growth in sales year after year, quickly out pacing the growth of other quick service coffee concepts. According to data compiled by consumer market research firm, NPD Group, and published in the June 25, 2012 edition of  Nation’s Restaurant News, BIGGBY has outpaced competitors in 2011 sales growth including, Starbucks (7.28%), Dunkin’ Donuts (4.71%), Tim Horton’s (5.48%), McDonald’s (4.39%) and Panera Bread (12.21%) by anywhere from 6 to13 percent.

“When you look the numbers, there really is no comparison,” Michael McFall, BIGGBY president, said. “The BIGGBY system has proven itself time and time again, powering us full speed ahead. Our leadership in terms of product development has been a contributing factor, especially when you look at the statistics of the top selling beverage categories today.”

Nation’s Restaurant News, currently lists iced and frozen coffee drinks as the top selling restaurant beverages, showing substantial sales growth nationwide, something BIGGBY has been focusing on for the past two years with their “hot, iced or frozen” drink campaign. Around this same, BIGGBY also introduced Creme Freezes, their version of smoothies, which NRN listed as the second highest category in terms of beverage growth.

“We made the decision to develop and implement a selling culture around these types of beverages at exactly the right time,” McFall said. “Along with our constant concentration on a top-of-the-line customer experience, we have created a great recipe for extremely forceful growth.”

This growth is the most exemplified with new store signings for the company. Just more than half way through 2012, BIGGBY has signed 22 new franchise agreements, the most in a seventh month period for the company since 2009.

“Clearly, the numbers don’t lie,” McFall said. “And I’m certain this is only the beginning for BIGGBY.”

About BIGGBY COFFEE®

East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 156 cafes open or under contract across eight states including: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas.  For more information, visit: biggby.com.
