Better coffee begins at the source

Coffee that does good — and tastes even better

What is farm-direct?

Farm-Direct means BIGGBY® COFFEE buys coffee directly from select farmers around the world. We only work with partners who:

Treat their people right

Care for the planet

Invest in their communities

BIGGBY® pays a fair price that allows the producer to pay a living wage to the farm-workers, and proper living conditions are verified through boots on the ground visits by an organization called OBIIS.

What is OBIIS?

To ensure every farm truly meets BIGGBY values, co-Founder and co-CEO Bob Fish, and his wife Michelle, created OBIIS—One BIGG Island in Space. OBIIS certifies our coffee as Farm-Direct by visiting each farm personally, building long-term relationships with farmers and hearing their stories, as well as evaluating their farm practices up close.

All OBIIS-verified Farm Direct coffee is randomly tested for banned herbicides and pesticides as shipments are received in the US.  If any banned herbicide or pesticide is detected, it is rejected.  This is beyond the process required for USDA organic.

It can take years for a farm to be certified, but it means every cup is traceable back to real people and places.

Our Commitment

In 2018, we set a bold goal: 100% of BIGGBY® coffee Farm-Direct by 2028. Today, we’re already more than halfway there—over 50% of our coffee is Farm-Direct, including every hot, iced, and cold brew you sip. Together, we’re building a future where every cup has a name, a face, and a place.

BIGGBY® COFFEE.  Making it better by bringing a name, a face and a place for every cup of coffee we serve.
