EAST LANSING - Two Lansing-area Beaner's Coffee shops have made the change to the Biggby Coffee name. Downtown stores at 115 W. Allegan St. and 120 W. Ottawa St. have taken the new name. The rest of the franchisee-owned shops in the East Lansing-based chain should take on the new name by Jan. 31, Chief Executive Officer Bob Fish said. He announced the name change in September because the coffee company's name is considered a derogatory term used against Hispanics. The new name should begin appearing on cups after the company's holiday-decorated cups are used, Fish said.
