BIGGBY COFFEE DONATES APPROXIMATELY $300K IN 2011, SUCCEEDS WITH “GIVING IS GETTING” ATTITUDE
EAST LANSING, Mich., Dec. 20, 2011 – Throughout 2011, BIGGBY COFFEE has donated approximately $300,000 to charity across multiple states franchise wide. From schools and sports teams to Alzheimer’s awareness and everything in between, the gourmet coffee retailer loves to support local causes to hold true to one of the company’s founding principles, “giving is getting”.
From a single store in March of 1995 to more than 120 today, BIGGBY COFFEE president, Michael McFall, has never lost sight of this principle and continually stresses the importance of each and every franchisee becoming immersed in their store’s community.
“We want our customers to know our stores owner’s care about their communities and the local causes that make each area unique,” McFall said. “A lot of times our store operators are from the area in which they work, making the connection that much stronger.”
Whether they are national organizations or local fundraising efforts, each store gives back to their community through a wide range of options. From B Involved mugs, refrigerator art contests, customized donation vouchers, or sponsorships, it is the flexibility and passion that makes each fundraising campaign successful.
For example, BIGGBY COFFEE of Defiance, OH made it their mission to team with a different charity every month of 2011, bringing in thousands of dollars for 12 local organizations. Shelby Township, Mich. BIGGBY sponsored the second annual “Jingle Bell 5k”, which benefited five different charities including the Shelby Township Lions Club and the local Special Olympics program. In addition, another franchisee donated proceeds from her stores to She Serves VFW on Veteran’s Day.
“Regardless of the fundraiser, the return we see and feel from that involvement continually fuels our desire to give”, McFall said.
In 2011, BIGGBY was named the fastest growing coffee chain in the United States by CNBC, a top 30 food franchise by Franchise Business Review and ranked on Entrepreneur Magazine’s top 500 franchise report. Each of these honors, McFall said can be linked to the commitment BIGGBY has to their communities.
“Customers will continue to visit a store and even go out of their way to shop somewhere that is making a difference in their community. When you add that to the one-of-a-kind experience they receive at BIGGBY and our great products, you have a winning combination.”

About BIGGBY COFFEE®
East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 139 cafes open or under contract across six states including: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.
