IONIA BIGGBY STORE CONTINUES VETERANS DAY TRADITION

Store owners and Iraqi War Veteran’s will give half of day’s proceeds to local foundation

IONIA, MICH, Nov. 1, 2012 – Since purchasing BIGGBY COFFEE in Ionia (2331 S. State Rd.) two years ago, store owners and Iraqi War Veteran’s, Paula and Mark Thompson, have been using each Veteran’s Day to raise awareness about local organizations that support the United States Military. This year is no different as the store readies to donate half its proceeds to Team Red, White & Blue, on Sunday, Nov. 11.

“In past years we have had great support from our community and our customers, whom we are so thankful for,” Paula said. “Team Red, White & Blue has a mission is to enrich lives of our veteran’s by connecting them to their community through different type of events. They host marathons, triathlons, 5K runs, bike races and more to help veterans, their families, and American citizens interact.”

Before becoming part of the BIGGBY franchise family, both Paula and Mark graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served five years active duty at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. The two served a combined total of four tours in Iraq, spanning more than three years, before returning to Michigan.

Team Red, White & Blue, or Team RWB, hosts events all across the U.S and was founded by a classmate of the Thompson’s from the United States Military Academy graduating class of 2002.

“We want to do our part and show our support for the work he does and are ready for a busy day in the store,” Paula said. We hope all our BIGGBY fans can come out to see us and help support this great cause and make this year’s contribution the biggest yet.”

About BIGGBY COFFEE®
East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 160 cafes open or under contract across eight states including:  Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas.  For more information, visit www.biggby.com.
